Charity Brings Christmas Cheer to Ross Priory for Another Year

On Monday 4 December, Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs hosted a successful Christmas Concert at Ross Priory, Gartocharn. Guests were greeted by local piper Douglas Owler and entertained by the Rannoch Trio, who played a varied selection of classical and seasonal music. Attendees were also able to purchase gifts from wood turner Maggie Irving, whose work helps to support the restoration of Loch Lomond’s paddle steamer Maid of the Loch, as well as merchandise from the Friends.

Rosemary Wilson, a long-standing member of the Friends, drew the winning tickets at the raffle where there were many prizes from trustees, local businesses and charities, including The Oak Tree Inn, Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd, Ross Priory and The Loch Lomond Steamship Company.

Friends Chairman, John Urquhart said: “This has been another very successful Christmas event for the Friends, whose members and guests return each year knowing that they will enjoy a wonderful afternoon in the delightful 18th century surroundings of Ross Priory. We are grateful to our young piper, the Rannoch Trio and the stallholders who came along on the day to help the Friends and the Maid of the Loch. A huge thank you also goes to the University of Strathclyde and the Staff at Ross Priory for all their help and assistance in making this such a memorable event.”
