RCS: A New Way to Text and Stay Connected

As the demand for secure and convenient communication continues to grow, Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging has become increasingly prominent. Following Google’s 2020 rollout of RCS across carriers and networks, nearly 80% of consumers find the service appealing and 74% report that it makes them more likely to communicate with a brand.

Chris Gorman, Head of Professional Services at Esendex, commented: “RCS is a win for businesses and consumers. For consumers it’s a familiar and secure environment to be in – and there’s no App to download. For businesses it can lead to better engagement and conversions thanks to interactive branding, action buttons, photos, videos, location-sharing and more.”

Gorman went on to explain the importance of RCS for businesses, as Android currently holds a 70% global market share: “When customers feel that they are being listened to and can contact you quickly and easily on a channel of their choice, they are far more likely to do business with you and recommend you to others.”

RCS messaging offers a unique opportunity for businesses to engage their customers, allowing them to take advantage of interactive branding, action buttons, photos, videos and location-sharing within the same message. With the majority of consumers finding RCS appealing, it is sure to be an increasingly popular method of communication in the years to come.
