Prepare for World Water Week 2023: Join the Hope Springs Initiative on Monday

Today marks the start of the 2023 edition of the annual World Water Week, running from Monday 21st August to Sunday 27th August. This year’s event, taking place in Stockholm, Sweden, will focus on using technological innovation and new ideas to solve the water crisis in parts of the world that face acute water shortages.

Hope Spring, a charity based in Hereford, is participating in the event remotely on the opening day. The organisation has developed a low-tech, affordable water borehole system in collaboration with its technology partner, which was partly funded by a donation from the WhatsApp charity greetings ecards platform.

Organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), the event is free to attend in person or remotely, with Water professionals from around the world invited to take part. Hope Spring trustee Temi Odurinde, who is attending the event remotely, said: “I am delighted I will be joining other changemakers in some of the discussions that will take place at this year’s World Water Week. A gathering such as this tends to energise our determination to help solve water access issues; it is also an excellent networking opportunity.”
