Shakey’s Super League canceled quadruple-header due to Super Typhoon Karding

THE NEWLY-OPENED volleybal tournament Shakey’s Super League, likewise, shelved its quadruple-header schedule yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum due to the said super typhoon that has placed Metro Manila under storm signal No. 3.

The postponed matches, featuring Letran-St. Benilde, Adamson-Emilio Aguinaldo College, Santo Tomas-Lyceum and University of the Philippines-Mapua, will be rescheduled to Oct. 1 and 2.

Adjustments will be made for the said date, still at the RMC, to accommodate the canceled matches according to SSL president Dr. Ian Laurel as the new volleyball league hit a slight bump after an explosive opener Saturday.

“Further advisory will be made. On behalf of the organizers, thank you for your understanding and support. Stay safe everyone,” said Laurel.

Far Eastern University took centerstage with a 25-20, 24-26, 19-25, 25-22, 15-11 upset of reigning NCAA champion College of St. Benilde in the marathon SSL opener that stretched to the wee hours of Sunday after also a Saturday quadruple bill. — John Bryan Ulanday
