Lawmaker seeks rehiring of village health workers

A CONGRESSMAN on Sunday said village captains and councilors should follow the instructions set by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on the rehiring of health workers and nutrition scholars.

These workers should be rehired because they have been trained for the job already, Party-list Rep. Angelica Natasha Co said in a statement.

Village captains may either appoint or replace village workers such as health workers, according to the DILG memo. The National Government should train them.

“It is an additional burden for the government if there are no reappointments of barangay health workers and nutrition scholars,” Ms. Co said. “It is also a burden if we only replace those untrained.” — Kyanna Angela Bulan
