This December, the Redhills Durham Christmas Concert is set to return with a unique change of venue. Taking place at Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light, the 2023 Redhills Christmas Concert will take place on Sunday, 10th December, and coincide with the 30th anniversary of the closure of Wearmouth Colliery.
Nick Malyan, CEO of Redhills Durham, expressed his excitement for the event, saying, “We’re thrilled to bring the Christmas Concert to the Stadium of Light this year, marking a significant moment in the history of our region.”
The event will feature a festive performance by Durham Miners’ Association Brass Band, with a setlist of beloved Christmas classics. Additionally, the celebration will be enhanced by a guest performance from North East folk singer Bill Elliott.
As well as the musical performances, attendees will also receive updates on the progress of the Durham Miners’ Hall restoration project.
Doors open at 3:00 p.m., with the performance starting at 3:30 p.m. Free car parking is available at the stadium for ticket holders. Tickets for this festive event are priced at £10 each, which includes tea or coffee. For those who wish to purchase alcoholic or soft drinks, the bar will be open both before the concert and during the interval.
