Eco-Friendly Luxury: New Cashmere Brand Introduces Online Boutique

Kopila, a newly established luxury cashmere brand committed to sustainability, has unveiled its online retail platform for the AW23 season. The Kopila website now showcases their range of luxurious knitwear, encompassing vibrant contemporary daywear and undyed neutral homewear. With a mission to provide “cashmere with conscience,” Kopila offers a glimpse into its sustainable practices through its website.

The brand is the result of a collaboration between a knitwear creative director, a renowned luxury knitwear factory owner, and a financial business consultant. Their shared passion for ethically sourced luxury knitwear brought them together.

Kopila’s cashmere garments are designed in the UK and crafted in Nepal, where local artisanal skills take center stage. Rooted in values of respect, kindness, and ecological responsibility, this new brand is committed to considering the well-being of both people and nature in every aspect of its business:

Kopila’s garments are crafted using premium royal cashmere yarns certified to The Good Cashmere Standard by AbTF, an organisation that promotes animal welfare, improves the working conditions of farmers and farm workers, and protects the environment.
The brand exclusively employs certified non-toxic dyes and offers an entirely undyed homewear range.
Kopila’s garment production processes adhere to ethical and responsible standards required to achieve Sedex approved status, with 70% of their garment factory workforce comprising women.
The traceability of Kopila’s cashmere pieces extends from the cashmere producer to the end customer.
All trims used by Kopila, from buttons to labeling, are sustainably sourced.
The brand actively supports traditional skills and techniques in Nepal, from the knitting of their garments to the handmade Lokta tissue paper packaging indigenous to Nepal.

Kopila encourages its customers to cherish and care for their garments, further reinforcing the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

Pippa Anderson, Kopila’s Creative Director and co-founder, expressed their pride in the brand’s sustainability journey, stating, “We are very proud of our sustainability story – we work closely with a sustainability consultant who guides us to be the best we can be as a small brand – it has always been important to us that our sustainability journey has integrity – we have set out to, and will continue to make the best choices available to us – across our business. Our knitwear production is fully traceable from the fibre producer into our customers hands – meaning our customer can have complete peace of mind that we have done what we can to protect people and nature throughout their garments journey.”

“Alongside our sustainable story it was also really important to us to offer our customer truly beautiful, luxurious knitwear. Our knitwear uses the ultimate quality royal cashmere so our garments are super soft and lofty. Our collections are also designed to be contemporary, yet timeless and we take great care in the attention to detailing – showcasing the skills of our craftspeople and offering our customer a really unique garment, to be loved for time to come.”
