ISS Aerospace, a UK leader in the development of cutting-edge Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), has unveiled the tube-launched WASP M4-TL tactical UAS.
Designed to provide cost-effective capability enhancement to a range of users, the WASP system is man-portable and can be deployed in less than three seconds. It can also transition to conventional multi-rotor flight after an initial rocket launch, and the whole system is re-usable, with the ability to store it for many years and remain ready for rapid use.
Equipped with a high-performance gimbal mounted EO/IR camera with range finder, plus a modular payload system up to 1.5kg, the UAS is capable of swarming and a broad range of operational uses, including multi-domain situational awareness and threat assessment, C-sUAS, ground or maritime force protection missions and the delivery of urgent medical supplies.
ISS Aerospace CEO and Founder Ryan Kempley said: “WASP has benefitted from substantial in-house R&D and is now a viable prototype, ready for rapid iteration to meet customer needs. We envisage substantial interest in its further development and exploitation, given the system’s tactical advantages and broad applications.”
The WASP and the range of ISS Aerospace SENSUS UAS will be on display at DSEI, Excel London, from 12 – 15 September. The system is available for exploitation under license for defence and security applications by ISSOS Technologies Ltd, a UK company.
