At the 2023 Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) festival, metalheads broke a new world record by growling at 110.3 decibels. The record was set in collaboration with the Growling Creatures, an animal metal band presented by Krombacher, to raise awareness for the protection of endangered native species.
Krombacher provided more than 140 taps of beer for festivalgoers, as well as exclusive live performances, such as a DJ set from the metalcore band Electric Callboy and a visit from Wacken legend “Mambo Kurt”. On the final day of the festival, the Dutch metal marching band “Blaas of Glory” performed from the balcony of the Krombacher Stammtisch.
Despite the difficult weather conditions, Krombacher also gave out chilled drinks to festivalgoers and volunteers as a thank you for their hard work at the festival. The organisation team and volunteers received the limited W:O:A edition of Krombacher Pils and non-alcoholic drinks for all drivers.
Thomas Jensen, co-founder of the W:O:A, was awarded the record certificate on behalf of the participating festival visitors.
Peter Lemm, Company Spokesman for Krombacher said: “It was an unforgettable W:O:A 2023. Hope to see you again next year, at another sold out W:O:A! Rain or Shine.”
At this year’s Wacken Open Air, metal fans set a world record of 110.3 decibels by growling in collaboration with the Growling Creatures. This was all part of Krombacher’s activities at the festival, which included providing more than 140 taps of beer, exclusive live performances and farewell presents to festivalgoers and volunteers.
