Construction Fleets See 40% Cut in Fuel Costs Thanks to Telematics, Teletrac Navman Study Finds

Teletrac Navman, a leading provider of telematics technology, has released the results of its TS23 Telematics Survey which surveyed 500 construction fleet professionals worldwide. The survey aimed to identify the primary challenges operators are facing, as well as strategies to overcome them.

The survey revealed that maintenance expenses are a major cost for construction fleets, with 44% of responders noting it is one of the biggest expenses for their business, more so than purchasing new equipment or vehicles. With the strain on the supply chain, operators have to cope with higher costs for parts and longer downtime.

To reduce these costs and improve safety, telematics technology is being employed by many construction fleets. 97% of telematics users reported a reduction in fuel costs of up to 40%, while 95% saw fewer accidents. Moreover, 94% utilised driver performance benchmarking to achieve further safety improvements.

The survey also found that 45% of respondents experienced improved customer service as the most significant benefit of their telematics program. By effectively managing resources on the jobsite, management teams are able to keep projects on track while maintaining their budgets.
